Bucks Gaming’s positive momentum took a major hit as they suffered multiple losses in a gameweek for the first time this season.

It had been a fantastic start to the season for Bucks Gaming, particularly when you consider the struggles the team faced in the NBA 2K League’s inaugural campaign last year.

A strong start to the regular season had given the team real cause to believe in their chances of a potential playoff run, and a deep run in the latest midseason tournament The Turn last week acted as further validation of the strides made by Milwaukee’s gaming crew.

Unfortunately, the team’s return to regular season action in recent days has resulted in Bucks GG hitting their first major speed bump of the season.

With winnable matchups against Kings Guard Gaming and Wizards District Gaming on the schedule for Thursday and Friday, respectively, the Bucks ultimately will have come away from this week’s action incredibly disappointed by the two losses they suffered from those contests.

While Kings Guard Gaming are having a good season and gradually climbing their way up toward the top of the standings, the Bucks were able to pull out an important win against them in tournament play just one week ago. Meanwhile, Wizards District Gaming were winless heading into this week’s action.

The Bucks’ week certainly didn’t start off on the wrong foot, as their start against Kings Guard Gaming suggested it was business as usual for Milwaukee. Strong play from BigMeek, ARooks and Plondo allowed the Bucks to find their usual rhythm, and a 12-point half time lead over the Kings seemed to indicate they were set to cruise to victory.

A third quarter turnaround from Sacramento turned the game on its head, though, cutting the Bucks’ lead to just two points heading into the final period. That lead proved to be too slender to hold up, as the Bucks ultimately fell to a clutch shot from BallLikeSeem in the game’s final seconds.

Perhaps reeling from that gut-wrenching defeat, a very different Bucks team showed up on Friday night.

Having picked up their first win of the season just a couple of hours earlier, Wizards District Gaming carried a massive boost of confidence into their meeting with a Bucks team that suddenly looked bereft of its belief.

Milwaukee floundered offensively from the tip, and just as problematic was the fact they offered close to no resistance when it came to stopping the Wizards on the other end of the floor.

The Wizards followed a 17-7 first quarter with an 18-7 tally in the second, leaving the Bucks in a 21-point hole at the break. After just 14 first half points, at least Milwaukee found its offense in the form of 43 second half points, but the damage had already been done.

A final score of 77-57 saw Milwaukee on the wrong end of a very rare blowout defeat.

With the two losses, the Bucks tumbled down to ninth in the standings with a suddenly mediocre record of 4-4.

Bucks GG will be eager to set that right at the next available opportunity, which comes in the form of very difficult games against the Mavs and Warriors on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
