Coming to the Milwaukee Bucks midway through their strong season, two-way player Bonzie Colson II christened the start to his burgeoning career by seeing limited minutes up with the parent club near the end of the year.

Bonzie Colson II’s journey to the Milwaukee Bucks, and the NBA at large, was wrought with concerns and questions just only a year ago.

A decorated collegiate player throughout his time at Notre Dame, Colson’s senior season didn’t exactly provide him with the launching pad to the next level that many anticipated him having.

That came as a result of Colson breaking his left foot not once, but twice in a matter of three months, all of which capped off his run with the Fighting Irish in heartbreaking fashion.

Of course, the injuries plummeted his draft stock and being sidelined throughout much, if not all of the pre-draft process made it that much tougher to showcase what he could do in the Summer League setting after going undrafted during the 2018 NBA Draft.

With a clean bill of health, Colson latched on to the Cleveland Cavaliers during training camp, paving the way for him to play with their G League affiliate, the Canton Charge. And after playing up to his capabilities, the kind many envisioned he would do upon making the jump to the pros, the Bucks swooped in and signed Colson to a two-way contract ahead of the guarantee deadline in mid-January earlier this year.

For Colson, the events of the last year may not have unfolded all the way to his liking, but it’s eventually gotten him to the NBA where he belongs as he told Tom Noie of the South Bend Tribune during the Bucks’ playoff run last month:

"“This is my journey; this is my path,” he said. “This is God’s plan for me. Just be thankful that you’re here.”"

So without further ado, let’s examine Bonzie Colson’s rookie season by pouring through the flashes he showed with the Wisconsin Herd and the limited action he saw up with the Bucks at the end of the season.
