Giannis Antetokounmpo took his play with the Milwaukee Bucks to new levels in 2018-19, and he may yet be rewarded with the MVP award for his efforts.

As he has been doing for a number of years now, Giannis Antetokounmpo used 2018-19 to follow up what was then the best season of his career with an even better year.

With six NBA seasons now under his belt, it remains an impressive feat that Antetokounmpo has improved year-to-year in points, rebounds and field goal percentage throughout his career so far. This season, those gains he made brought him into a tier of players that most NBA players can only ever dream of joining.

More from Bucks News

Antetokounmpo was the beating heart and driving force of the best Bucks team in over 30 years. Much has been discussed about Jon Horst’s great roster building, Mike Budenholzer’s sensational coaching, and the strong play of his teammates, but the Bucks were only capable of achieving what they did this season thanks to Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo has already been named to the All-NBA First Team and All-Defensive First Team, while he remains a finalist for both Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year awards. He picked up his third All-Star appearance this season, and did so as a team captain and leading vote-getter in his conference for the very first time.

The season certainly didn’t end how he would have liked on a team or individual level, but with 60 wins and a Conference Finals berth, the Bucks took the kind of jump to contention that Antetokounmpo has hoped for since he arrived in the NBA.

With all of that considered, let’s look back on Antetokounmpo’s incredible season, the few things that went wrong for him, his best game of the year, and what he can do next.
