The Milwaukee Bucks’ big acquisition ahead of this year’s trade deadline, sharpshooting forward Nikola Mirotic didn’t experience the smoothest stint in the Cream City over the second half of the season.

As they maintained their run to hold on to the best record in the NBA going into this year’s trade deadline, the Milwaukee Bucks faced an interesting question.

Having established themselves as an incredibly deep team, comfortable playing as many as 11 guys on a given night, Milwaukee had found the formula that all teams strive for without much drop off. But the arms race brewing in the Eastern Conference hit another level going into the deadline, which all started with the Philadelphia 76ers making the move to add Tobias Harris from the Los Angeles Clippers.

With the Toronto Raptors rumored to be looking for a high-profile move of their own, which later turned out to be veteran center Marc Gasol, the Bucks were hard at work at landing a headlining reinforcement of their own.

Initially, the Bucks dealt disgruntled, inconsistent big man Thon Maker to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Stanley Johnson the day before the deadline.

However, that ended up being a small piece of the puzzle as it ballooned to a three-team deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, with the Bucks sending Johnson and a number of second rounders to the Big Easy for sharpshooting forward Nikola Mirotic roughly an hour before the deadline.

On paper, the Montenegrin’s penchant to let it fly fit right in with the way the Bucks operated throughout the year and had the makings of supercharging an already potent offense. And while we ended up seeing flashes of that during the regular season, a porous playoff run unraveled what end up being a three-month stay in Milwaukee for Mirotic, given his upcoming free agency.

So without further ado, let’s examine the abbreviated stint Nikola Mirotic logged after being acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks after the trade deadline and see where his future lies from here.
