Milwaukee Bucks Rumors: Robin Lopez agrees to 2-year deal at room exception
By Adam McGee
The Milwaukee Bucks’ incredibly busy opening day of free agency continued with an agreement for Robin Lopez to join his brother Brook in Milwaukee.
The Lopez brothers will be reunited next season, as mere hours after Brook Lopez agreed a four year deal to return to the Milwaukee Bucks, his twin, Robin Lopez has reportedly agreed to join him.
News of a potential deal was first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, while the agreement itself was reported by Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.
According to Haynes, Lopez has signed for two years at the full room exception, which should amount to a total value of $9.7 million, with the second year being a player option.

Robin provides the Bucks with a much-needed option at backup center behind Brook, and may well assume the mantle of being the best reserve 5 in the NBA.
Robin was selected five picks after Brook, 15th overall, in the 2008 NBA Draft, and has enjoyed a stellar career as a role player around the NBA in the years since.
Over the past two seasons in Chicago, Robin has enjoyed the two best scoring seasons of his career in terms of points per 36 minutes, and has long demonstrated nice touch and a nose for easy buckets under the rim.
Scoring has never been Robin’s forte, though, and while Brook has been more generally associated with offense, his brother has always hung his hat on the defensive end.
Robin has long held a reputation for being the best boxout artist in the NBA, which has allowed his teams’ rebounding totals to skyrocket whenever he was on the floor. Beyond that, Robin is also a stout rim protector and a very savvy positional defender for his size.
The Bucks’ locker room is likely to get a lot livelier with Brook and Robin paired together, while Bango will now have a chance to be on the right side of Robin and his long-running war with NBA mascots.
On the floor, this represents a nice pickup that further rounds out Milwaukee’s depth. It will be tougher to find more additions of this caliber moving forward as the Bucks are now down to veteran minimum deals, but perhaps Jon Horst will be able to find additional value on the margins.
