Brought on in early December from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team trade, the financial benefits of acquiring Hill helped grease the wheels for the many other dealings they made at the start of free agency over the weekend.
But as the season progressed, Hill’s veteran presence really fortified the Bucks’ bench unit and overall depth that eased the workload of their superstar in Giannis Antetokounmpo and their high-profile role players such as Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez and so on.
Because of the financial gymnastics the Bucks had to retain most of their core free agents, Hill had to be waived ahead of the start of free agency, leaving him at risk of being picked up by teams around the league and even a contending rival in the East.
In the end, though, the Bucks will extend Hill’s stay in the Cream City where he’ll be relied to carry on the same role in the coming years, both on and off the court.
So without further ado, let’s break down the ins and outs of George Hill’s re-signing with the Bucks and hand out a final grade on his return.
