Having reportedly agreed on a veteran minimum deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, we react and hand out a grade on Wesley Matthews‘ Wisconsin homecoming.
The NBA hot stove may be starting to cool after a frenzied opening day in free agency, but the Milwaukee Bucks keep on making moves to fill out their roster for the 2019-20 season.
Of course, I’m referring to the fact that the Bucks have reportedly agreed to a deal with journeyman guard Wesley Matthews for the veteran’s minimum, which was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski Monday afternoon.

The move will serve as a homecoming for Matthews on two counts as he was raised in Madison, the state’s capitol, and was a high school star at Madison Memorial (sidenote: Matthews’ father, Wes Sr., was a long-time professional, which included nine NBA seasons and two NBA championships as well).
Along with that, Matthews developed into a fan favorite and a standout during his four years at nearby Marquette University from 2005 to 2009.
Since his days starring for the Golden Eagles, Matthews has gone on to stand as one of the most successful undrafted stories the league has seen after having logged stints with the Utah Jazz, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Dallas Mavericks, the New York Knicks and most recently, the Indiana Pacers.
And now the Bucks will be the latest stop in Matthews’ career and it offers the Wisconsin native a chance at potentially fulfilling his championship aspirations.
So without further ado, let’s explore all the benefits and possible implications of Wesley Matthews’ reported deal with the Milwaukee Bucks before handing out a final grade on the agreement.
