The Milwaukee Bucks have reportedly made their latest addition to their roster going into training camp as they are bringing in second-year guard Jaylen Adams.

While their major free agency dealings have all been made for some time now, the Milwaukee Bucks continue to fill out their roster heading into this year’s training camp.

First reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks are signing free agent guard Jaylen Adams to bring him on their training camp roster before it kicks off next month.

Bucks beat reporter Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel confirmed the news after Wojnarowski’s initial report.

An undrafted guard from last year’s draft, Adams spent his entire rookie season in the Atlanta Hawks organization, originally as a two-way player.

As part of the distinction, Adams spent the first couple of months playing for their G League affiliate, the Erie Bayhawks.

While there, the 23-year-old put up decent numbers for a developing guard as he averaged 15.3 points on .392/.344/.763 shooting splits, 6.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 turnovers in his 20 appearances.

Eventually, Adams was able to parlay that into a multi-year deal with the Hawks converting his two-way contract into a non-guaranteed deal back in late February earlier this year. In his 34 appearances with the Hawks last season, which included one spot start, Adams posted 3.2 points on .345/.338/.778 splits, 1.9 assists, 1.8 rebounds across 12.6 minutes per contest.

However, the Hawks elected to cut ties with the St. Bonaventure alum almost a month ago ahead of his guarantee date as well as a poor showing during this year’s Summer League by all accounts.

After the addition of Adams, the Bucks’ roster now stands at 19 players, which includes their two-way players in Frank Mason III and Cam Reynolds as well as the Exhibit 10 deal for undrafted rookie forward Luke Maye.

Like Maye, Adams will look to make a strong impression in training camp, but will be overmatched to make the Bucks’ opening night roster and is slated to join the Wisconsin Herd in advance of their season kicking off at the start of November, as Velazquez relayed in his corroboration of Woj’s report.

It’s important to remind Bucks fans this time of year that NBA teams are allowed to carry no more than 20 players over the course of training camp and preseason and cuts will be made accordingly. With some guaranteed money reportedly as part of his deal, that will allow Adams to play for the Herd and share time alongside Mason and lead the backcourt in the occasions that Mason is up with the parent club next year.

So with all that out of the way, let’s see what Adams can do not only during training camp, but in a Herd uniform when their third season gets underway in a few months time.
