As the Milwaukee Bucks look to chase their title aspirations for the 2019-20 season, they hope the level of continuity they have in place will be key to the success they want to achieve.

Work has officially begun for the Milwaukee Bucks with the start of the 2019-20 season a little more than three weeks away.

The Eastern Conference runners-up kicked off their 2019 training camp Tuesday morning in Madison to start the long road that is their upcoming campaign, one that the Bucks will be hoping they will be the last team standing by the end of it.

Clearly the stakes are high for a Bucks franchise that has taken a very long road in their development trajectory over recent seasons to get to this point.

And that’s without factoring in the long-term future of their singular superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, a topic that will continue to be dissected and rehashed over and over from big picture and national outlets throughout the year.

Needless to say, the outcome of the Bucks’ 2019-20 season will figure to impact and alter their franchise one way or another, whether it’s potentially winning a second NBA title in the team’s history or wading through more uncomfortable waters if they fall short of that goal.

Luckily, the Bucks have spent the last few years building up their foundation to fully complement Antetokounmpo, and change the complexion and outlook of the team to fully realize their potential and become a viable title contender. And the arrival of reigning NBA Coach of the Year Mike Budenholzer last summer was obviously integral in the Bucks being able to make such a leap in that manner.

The marriage between the core group of players the Bucks have assembled and the system and overall philosophy that Budenholzer and his coaching staff have implemented since coming to Milwaukee has been nothing short of exceptional, given the overwhelming success the Bucks enjoyed throughout the regular season last year.

With everything in sync throughout all levels of the organization, the continuity the Bucks have fashioned under general manager Jon Horst and now Budenholzer has been a big theme as they start work to usher in the 2019-20 season. That certainly acted as a theme throughout the Bucks’ Media Day session on Monday as Horst evaluated where the team’s foundation is at collectively following their offseason activity going into the start of training camp:

"“This group looks like they’re growing, looks like they’re getting better, looks like they fit and they make sense, and that we can compete and sustain success for a long period of time. And that’s been the goal. When you have that in place, when you have a core in place, when you have a system, and play the way that Bud plays, it kind of helps the players and accentuates their skills, and you have a superstar like Giannis, it makes it clear. It’s an easier job, quite frankly, to be able to identify the guys that fit in your system and style of play, and fit with Giannis. It’s really a freeing thing for an executive, from my role, to have something in place where you can plug pieces in and know they’re going to work. And we’re not going to be right 100 percent of the time, but it really is a clear picture for us to operate under.”"

Similarly, Budenholzer praised Horst and the rest of the front office’s ability to maintain the core they have developed going into the 2019-20 season, which was no easy feat with all of the free agency situations the Bucks had to manage over the summer:

"“I have a lot of appreciation for what Jon and his group did this summer to keep our core group together, and bring back a heck of a roster. I think we reaped the benefits last year of a lot of the great work that Jon and his group did, and I’m just very, very appreciative of that."

After working to build up the organization, their culture, and get their roster to the point where it stands as deep as it does going into the upcoming campaign, the Bucks have reached a rarefied position coming off of what was such a successful season last year.

At long last, an identity and a coherent vision now exists in Milwaukee and it’s clearly informed how the Bucks have performed on the court and affected how they went about operating this offseason to load up for another run at the title after falling short in the Eastern Conference Finals.

While the new additions they’ve made over the last few months will look to solidify their team further, how those that have embedded themselves within the Bucks’ foundation will look to rebound from experiencing such a drastic end to last year will put to the test how substantial the continuity the organization has assembled over the last few years truly is.
