Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 133-99 preseason win over Utah Jazz

The Milwaukee Bucks returned home for their second preseason outing, and blew out the Utah Jazz in front of the Fiserv Forum crowd.

A convincing win in the Windy City without a whole host of key players was certainly a positive way to start preseason for the Milwaukee Bucks, and as they returned home to host the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, they only built on that initial success.

Looking much more like the Bucks of last season on this occasion, with only Sterling Brown, Ersan Ilyasova (both rested), and D.J. Wilson (hamstring) missing, Milwaukee started with a lineup that many believe will be their regular starting five for the year ahead.

That meant Wesley Matthews joined the four returning starters from last season, with preseason debuts for Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Unfortunately their run together wasn’t quite as long as both coaches and fans alike may have hoped for, as Eric Bledsoe exited the game with an oblique injury in the second quarter. Still, that didn’t stop the Bucks from rolling off an absolute demolition of the Jazz, with both the offense and defense frequently looking as if it was in midseason form.

That was fueled by stellar showing from Giannis, Khris, and Brook Lopez, but also in impressive contributions from role players such as Donte DiVincenzo, Robin Lopez, Kyle Korver, Dragan Bender, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

All in all, everything looked in good working order as the Bucks romped to a 133-99 win over one of the West’s best teams, albeit that Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles were given the night off for Utah.
