The Milwaukee Bucks have started well with Khris Middleton out injured, but they should still keep their options open in case things go south.

After suffering a left thigh contusion following a collision with the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Terrance Ferguson, Milwaukee Bucks’ forward Khris Middleton was scheduled to miss three to four weeks of action through injury.

That news represented a significant blow to the Bucks early in the season, as even with their impressive depth, losing an All-Star caliber player remains a notable loss.

Through three games and just over a week without Middleton, the Bucks have every reason to feel positive about their 3-0 record in that stretch. Facing a favorable run in the schedule has certainly helped, but that doesn’t mean that there may not be potential for bumps on the road ahead without Middleton.

With that in mind, the Bucks need to keep all of their options open, and be prepared to explore changes that could help the team if further adversity was to hit. That could arrive in the form of additional injuries to other key players, or even any complications that delay Middleton’s return beyond the original timeline.

Although the Bucks are not lacking in wing depth, the injury does leave a weakness at the Bucks’ small forward position for the next month or so, particularly given that Milwaukee doesn’t quite have another wing capable of guarding larger forwards in the way that Middleton can.

With that considered, let’s take a closer look at Milwaukee’s options, and some of the moves the team could choose to make, if their time without Middleton doesn’t prove to be as smooth as it has been through the first three games.
