The Wisconsin Herd brought their winning streak to seven games Saturday night as they outpaced the Delaware Blue Coats to close their road trip out on a perfect note.

Continuing their incredible start to the 2019-20 G League season, the Wisconsin Herd outgunned the Delaware Blue Coats in a 124-119 victory Saturday night at 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington.

The Blue Coats were off and running straight away from the opening tip, leaving the Herd to have to play catch up. A shootout subsequently broke out and defined the whole first quarter and led to Delaware holding a 37-34 lead at the end of one.

It didn’t take long for the Herd to take control of the contest early in the second period as they fully blew open the game in their favor and got a huge lift from their bench unit, who proceeded to rain threes upon threes.

After leading by as much as 18 at the 5:49 mark in the second quarter, the Herd held a 72-65 edge going into halftime.

Wisconsin maintained their hold on the contest throughout the third quarter, but it wasn’t without some push back from the Blue Coats, who continued to hung around. That all resulted in the Herd holding a 97-91 advantage through three.

Delaware pushed their comeback into high gear all throughout the fourth quarter, but the Herd continued to fend off the Blue Coats time and time again. And a pair of free throws from D.J. Hogg with nine seconds remaining ended up closing out the Herd’s perfect road trip.

Moving on to individual performances, Rayjon Tucker continues to be a leading star for the Herd and put together yet another season-high performance with 30 points on 14 shots (4-for-5 from three, 4-for-7 from the foul line), six rebounds, two turnovers, one assist as well as one steal in nearly 32 and a half minutes of action.

Tucker really ramped up his productivity as the game went along and was a central figure behind the Herd being able to fend off the Blue Coats as 19 of his 30 total points came over the course of the second half. The 22-year-old’s high-level scoring prowess from all areas of the floor continues to shine and he’s slowly vaulting himself as the Herd’s leading scorer, especially as two-way player Frank Mason remains sidelined and Dragan Bender stays up with the parent club.

Behind Tucker, the Herd’s bench unit collectively powered their scoring output as they accounted for 55 of the Herd’s 124 total points. Hogg showed off his versatile scoring by hitting shots from three, putting the ball down on the floor for strong finishes at the basket and get to the free throw line, all of which contributed to his 17-point performance.

Trevor Lacey was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field (3-for-3 from downtown) to deliver a season-high 11 points off the bench and Brandon McCoy broke his three-point shooting drought by connecting on a pair of triples and matching his season-high of 12 points 5-of-10 shooting from the field (2-for-5 from three).

As a whole, the Herd’s three-point shooting rebounded after a poor outing last time out as they knocked down 39.5 percent of their 43 attempts from that range of the floor.
