With the NBA 2K League set to return, the Milwaukee Bucks’ affiliate, Bucks Gaming, filled out their roster in Saturday night’s draft.

While the Milwaukee Bucks are currently in the process of dominating the NBA, and with the Wisconsin Herd on top of the pile in the G League, the other arm of the wider Bucks organization have a lot to live up to as their own season approaches.

Of course, I’m talking about Bucks Gaming, the Bucks’ affiliate in the NBA 2K League, the NBA’s Esports organization that is set to enter its third season over the next couple of months.

Through two years, the 2K League has delivered plenty of excitement and endless competitive contests between the regular season, playoffs, and all of the various tournaments. Still, from a Bucks perspective it has left a lot to be desired.

Even though there was some notable improvement last year, Bucks Gaming are yet to make their postseason debut.

That meant the stakes were particularly high entering into the 2020 2K League Draft on Saturday night at Terminal 5 in New York. Only Arooks and Plondo were retained from last season’s roster, but with that duo having shown their star potential, there’s little doubt that the right additions could turn Bucks Gaming into a contender.

On that front, there’s reason to be optimistic about the direction Bucks Gaming took in filling out its roster on Saturday.

Picking with the 12th overall pick, Bucks GG landed the highly touted Regg, a.k.a. Reggie Nash Jr. Regg had been one of a number of players outside the league to have picked up notable buzz, even leading to him being spotlighted in the 2K League’s own primer of pre-draft storylines:

"“Brooklyn native Reggie “iLReggLi” Nash Jr. appears to be one of the most talked about candidates in this year’s draft class.  Despite only playing NBA 2K for a little more than four years, Nash Jr. is already recognized as one of the best non-NBA 2K League players in the world.”"

Falling to Bucks GG at that spot leaves plenty of reason to believe Milwaukee may have landed their third star with something of a steal.

The Bucks also added some tested 2K League mettle to their roster through players who have previously been a part of the league, though.

The Bucks’ second round pick, Squidris, a.k.a. Idris Richardson, previously won a championship with Knicks Gaming, while fourth round pick ChaChingSingh, a.k.a. Anmool Singh led the 2K League in steals as a member of Heat Check Gaming last season.

Considering a lot is also expected of Bucks’ third round pick TDJ, a.k.a. Tyrell Johnson, Bucks GG seem all set up for their most successful season to date.

The official schedule has yet to be set for the 2020 2K League season, but based on last year’s play, expect Bucks GG to be back in action from some time around April.
