The latest Milwaukee Bucks news revolves around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo as it’s been confirmed he’s suffered a mild knee sprain and will miss at least the following two games.
That sound you’re hearing is a collective sigh of relief from all Milwaukee Bucks fans around the state of the Wisconsin and all throughout the world.
The Bucks released a statement Sunday afternoon regarding the status of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who will miss at least the following two games due to a minor joint capsule sprain in his left knee.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday afternoon that Antetokounmpo would undergo a precautionary MRI after suffering the injury midway through the fourth quarter of the Bucks’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night.

Antetokounmpo stuck it out in what remained of the game from that point on, but it was reported that the reigning MVP was walking with a limp and had a black wrap around his left knee following the game.
The 25-year-old was already listed as doubtful with left knee soreness on the injury report ahead of tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns as the Bucks continue their road trek out West.
Now this will prevent Antetokounmpo from seeing action against the Denver Nuggets Monday night and his status for the Bucks’ big clash versus the Boston Celtics this coming Thursday night is yet to be determined, per the team.
It goes without saying that this is a big bullet dodged for the Bucks and Antetokounmpo, given how scary the fall was as he tripped over a lying Avery Bradley, who attempted to draw a charge on Antetokounmpo and the Greek forward came down clutching his knee as a result. Now Antetokounmpo has avoided any significant injury and will take the remaining road trip to heal up and eventually get back on the court later this week.
There is some precedent in NBA players having suffered a minor joint capsule sprain, such as when Rudy Gay suffered the injury back during the 2014-15 season as a member of the Sacramento Kings as Jeff Stotts of In Street Clothes detailed. Gay only wounded up missing one game as a result of the injury.
Thankfully, Antetokounmpo will experience a similarly short absence and all Bucks will be relieved to see him back in action when he makes his inevitable return later this week, hopefully.
