Milwaukee Bucks: Robin Lopez’s 3 best games of the season so far
@ Washington Wizards, Feb. 24
In yet another spot start, Lopez came up clutch and delivered what was one of the most unsung moments of the Bucks’ season in their 137-134 overtime win over the Washington Wizards on February 24.
Lopez’s performance in the nation’s capital followed what’s been consistent throughout all of his spot starts this season as he continued to knock down the long ball and space the floor for the Bucks to a remarkable degree (side note: Lopez is 9-for-16 from long distance on the nights when he starts this year).
On the other side of the ball, Lopez was ever-enforcing on the defensive end, especially on a night when the Bucks’ small ball lineups weren’t up to the level that we’ve seen for most of the season.
But no play of Lopez’s was bigger than the game-saving block he had on an unsuspecting Rui Hachimura, who attempted to put down an open finish after freely cutting off the baseline.

In that moment of brilliance, Lopez extended the game into overtime to give the Bucks some new life and it was All-Star forward Khris Middleton who eventually closed out the dramatic victory in the extra period. And Lopez featured throughout, thanks to putting down a righty hook shot and setting up Middleton to give him space to knock down open jumpers from mid-range.
It was that night that served as the encapsulation for Lopez’s impact on the Bucks 2019-20 season as he’s continued to put his team first over himself, all with an eye and a shot for lasting glory down the line.
