A report from ESPN detailed the 2019-20 season may well last into October, something that could affect the Milwaukee Bucks and their championship pursuits.
The NBA’s efforts to resume the 2019-20 season feel more real by the day and the timeline is getting a little more clearer as well.
As ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported late Tuesday afternoon, this season is expected to run well into October with the last possible date for Game 7 of this year’s NBA Finals potentially being slated for October 12.

That follows the July 31 date that NBA commissioner Adam Silver has been targeting in any return-to-play scenario to resume the season.
This Thursday will be incredibly decisive as Wojnarowski reported, as that day will likely serve as when a formal proposal to restart this season will be up for voting from all 30 owners.
And as he also included in his report, the NBA is expected to have this year’s draft and free agency period follow the end of the season. There was some speculation last week that the league would consider reshaping their offseason under these unprecedented times.
If and when the Milwaukee Bucks get to pick up their NBA championship pursuit again, they’ll do so on a very different timeline.
Of course, all of these developments are certainly pertinent to the Milwaukee Bucks and their now-paused chase for a championship.
Under the current timeline that has been reported by the likes of Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, that would mean the Bucks would return to the court more than four-and-a half months since playing their last game back on March 9 against the Denver Nuggets.
In the time since the season has been suspended, Bucks players have been able to step back into their daily routines and have returned to practice individually at the team’s practice facility once it reopened last month, though under plenty of restrictions and protocols.
Soon, those restrictions will eventually be eased as the NBA will seek all teams returning to action to hold a secondary training camp before descending upon Orlando and Walt Disney World Resort and tuning up to resume the season will transfer over there.
So it’s possible that nearly a year after starting their dream season, the Bucks may be able to achieve their pursuit of winning an NBA championship, something that will come under the most extraordinary odds on all sorts of fronts.
Of course, getting there will prove to be the hardest part and the hurdles that stand in front of them currently are some that once looked insurmountable to even resume play. As always, we’ll follow up on any updates to whichever direction the NBA goes with restarting the season.
