According to a report from ESPN, the Milwaukee Bucks have shut down their practice facility after a round of testing returned positive results.

The worst-case scenario has happened for the Milwaukee Bucks ahead of their journey down to Orlando for the 2019-20 NBA season restart.

First reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks have shut down their practice facility after a round of coronavirus testing held Friday. Along with that, Woj reported that the Bucks’ practice facility will remain closed for workouts ahead of the team departing for Orlando on Thursday as is currently planned.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Matt Velazquez subsequently confirmed Woj’s report.

In Wojnarowski’s detailed report posted to ESPN, it’s unclear whether there is one or more positive tests that forced the team’s facility to shut down:

"“It was not immediately clear if there was more than one positive test, but the team plans to keep the facility closed for workouts until the team’s traveling party departs for the league’s restart in Orlando on Thursday, sources said.”"

While it’s very early and details are still being gathered, it’s already a crushing blow to the Bucks’ plans to get back into their rhythm.

The Bucks have now become the latest team to shut down the practice facility, following the footsteps of the Miami Heat, L.A. Clippers and Denver Nuggets, who have all had to recently close their respective practice facilities after confirmed cases.

Given that players have only been practicing individually at this point, one would hope that in the event there is a positive result for a Bucks player, it can be contained at this point. But that’s already operating from what is already an aforementioned worst-case scenario.

As we’re seeing with various teams and players around the league, the Bucks are now getting a first-hand account of potentially having to dealing with a positive case, whether it be a player or a coach.

Of course, speculation is all we have to go on at this point, pending further details, but this latest stumbling block for the Bucks is the reality they and all 21 other NBA teams soon set for Orlando will have to get used to under the league’s plans to restart the season. That is if they haven’t gotten used to it already.

How the Bucks move forward from here will be interesting to follow, especially since they are slated to depart for Orlando as was previously mentioned. ESPN’s Malika Andrews recently outlined how players who tested positive are ordered to quarantine and subsequently produce two negative tests before traveling to Orlando at a later date and separately from the team, per the league’s guidelines.

Again, this is all speculation at this point, but the next steps may have to be put in place if it turns out that a Bucks player, coach or official who was set to be a part of the team’s traveling party has tested positive for the coronavirus.
