As the Milwaukee Bucks settle in at Walt Disney World, the twin duo of Brook and Robin Lopez are already looking very much at home.
Finishing up an NBA season at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, with the Milwaukee Bucks in prime position to contend for a championship, is the kind of scenario that nobody has likely ever even imagined.
Except that might be, in the wildest dreams of the Bucks’ center duo, twin brothers Brook and Robin Lopez.

The Lopez twins’ love of all things Disney has been well-documented over the years, and they hold an intimate knowledge of the Bucks’ new home for the next few months, with Brook even owning a house on the property at Disney’s Orlando theme park.
Therefore, there’s every chance that it won’t be Giannis Antetokounmpo who Bucks fans hear the most from over the next few months, but the Lopez twins.
In the Bucks’ first few days in Orlando, Robin has already offered up plenty of glimpses into life inside the Disney bubble.
Fans who pay close attention to RoLo’s Twitter will have seen the Bucks big man check out the entertainment options on the TV in his room, take a trip to the arcade with Brook to play pinball, check out Panchito’s Gift Shop at the Coronado Springs resort where Milwaukee’s players are staying, and look longingly out the window of the team bus at a nearby Disney Cruise Line bus.
Robin also talked to media members via video call on Sunday, opening up about his very different experience at Disney World so far. As relayed by K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago:
"“So far, it’s very much been surreal,” Lopez said on a Zoom media session Sunday. “I never quite thought these two worlds would collide in the way that they have. I think it’s going to be pretty interesting going forward.”"
Robin also provided an update on the mascot situation, having previously shared his hope that the NBA’s traditional mascots could be swapped out for Disney characters for the remainder of the season.
"“I don’t want to use the word alternatives. That takes a group of characters, a cadre of characters, that are the cream-of-the-crop at what they do. And that sullies their names by suggesting they’re merely playing in the same ballpark as NBA mascots,” Lopez said, the sarcasm dripping. “There’s a pyramid to this, you know with the NBA mascots, MLB mascots, NFL mascots are all the way down (low). It would be a blessing to have the Disney characters around our game, around our sporting events. Whatever the children do these days, please tag the mascots in that statement.”"
As time goes on, the challenge for the Bucks may be to help the Lopez brothers to fight off the temptation to break out of the bubble and venture into the main parks. After all, the twins do have a history of skipping out on their basketball responsibilities to make a trip to Disneyland, dating back to their college days at Stanford.
Brook and Robin have been the picture of consistency for the Bucks this season, though, so there’s no reason to believe they won’t continue to be just that in the months ahead. If the Bucks get their hands on the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of this journey, even with others likely eager to leave, the Lopez twins will undoubtedly be going to Disney World to celebrate.
