Milwaukee Bucks: Revisiting Khris Middleton’s 2019-20 season so far
By Adam McGee
Khris Middleton was on the verge of history with the Milwaukee Bucks when the season came to a stop, and he’ll hope to complete that task after the restart.
When Mike Budenholzer took over as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks last season, he was adamant that Khris Middleton would be a central cog of his team’s plans and a key player alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo.
That has proven to be completely true over time, but it has come with a process of learning for both men, which certainly took until the current campaign before it seemed like they had found themselves on the same page.

To cut a long story short, Middleton and Budenholzer have had to accept some degree of give and take, which has led to Middleton bringing back some increased volume in his mid-range game this season.
That hasn’t come close to the peak of Middleton’s reliance on that area of the floor, nor has it been accompanied by the kind of heavy workload in terms of minutes that was a staple of what was asked of him during the Jason Kidd years. Instead, it’s been a best of both worlds situation that has led to what’s objectively been the best season of the Charleston native’s career to date.
With a second All-Star appearance already secured, Middleton will pick up his season with the prospect of joining the 50-40-90 club, making an All-NBA team, and winning a championship all very much in play.
So without further ado, let’s recap Middleton’s season to date, and consider the big question facing him for the remainder of the year.
