The NBA announced their awards for the 2019-20 season restart and Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo picked up All-Bubble second team honors.

The 2019-20 NBA regular season is officially over and the playoffs are soon to begin. But Saturday afternoon brought forth the league honoring the great performances from players around the league over the course eight seeding games down in Orlando.

For all Milwaukee Bucks fans, a familiar name landed on the league’s All-Seeding Games 2nd team, that being superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, and this latest honor came even as the Bucks as a whole struggled through their eight seeding games.

Antetokounmpo wasn’t immune to that as his play was quite volatile in its own right, but he still managed to put up monster numbers in his six games following the league’s return in Orlando.

Over his six games, Antetokounmpo averaged 27.8 points on 62.6 percent shooting from the field, was 6-for-22 from three (27.3 percent) and shot 62.7 percent from the line. He also added in 12.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 3.5 turnovers and 1.3 blocks across a meager 25.7 minutes per contest.

Even as Antetokounmpo’s performances were limited by foul trouble and a pair of absences, one which stemmed from his one-game suspension after his headbutt on Washington Wizards center Mo Wagner, the reigning MVP didn’t show much rust when he was on the floor.

Of course, Antetokounmpo is vying for much bigger honors individually as well as maintaining his focus on winning a championship this year. And Antetokounmpo maintained that latter standard when recently reflecting on his and the team’s issues over their seeding games as ESPN’s Eric Woodyard relayed:

"“…I think the most frustrating part for me was probably the Memphis game, sitting in the hotel and not being able to be out there to help my teammates compete and win a game and losing a lot of money. But, yeah, this is over. This is in the past,” he continued. “Now it’s playoff time. I definitely don’t believe in the turn-on switch that everybody talks about, like we can turn on the switch and be great, but I do believe that if everybody is on the same page and if everyone is focused and get together and watch clips and be on the same page and we know what our game plan is, I believe we can play way, way better.”"

Antetokounmpo’s dissatisfaction only echoes what all Bucks fans have believed over the course of their struggles or inconsistencies so far in Orlando. They’ll have their first chance to reverse course when they begin their first round playoff series against the Orlando Magic Tuesday afternoon and it will certainly help to have Antetokounmpo back on the floor, for starters.

Being named to the league’s All-Seeding Games second team goes to show Antetokounmpo’s skills were up to snuff after such a long layoff, but clearly bigger things are on the reigning MVP and the Bucks’ collective minds going into the start of their playoff run.
