Per a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Fiserv Forum, the home of the Milwaukee Bucks, will no longer be a voting site for the 2020 election.

We’re less than a month away from the 2020 general election, but there will be two less voting sites that Wisconsinites and the city of Milwaukee can cast their vote from this year.

The home of the Milwaukee Bucks, Fiserv Forum, will no longer be a site for in-person absentee voting. The same goes for Miller Park, the home of the Milwaukee Brewers, who have done the same to push for becoming a voting site ahead of next month’s election.

Here’s the statement that comes from the Milwaukee Election Commission Executive Director, Claire Woodall-Vogg, regarding this latest ruling that Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Alison Dirr included in her report on this development:

"“Unfortunately, the addition of these two sites could be legally challenged due to a recent court ruling, and we don’t want to do anything that could risk a City of Milwaukee voter’s ballot (not) being counted,” she said in a statement.”"

In light of this latest development, the Bucks organization delivered a statement via Twitter not long after the news broke.

Over this election season in particular, the Bucks have gone to great lengths to spread awareness and help register voters ahead of next month’s election. Over the weekend, the Bucks held a drive near the Bucks’ state of the art arena by partnering with When We All Vote, the non-partisan organization created by former first lady Michelle Obama.

From that event, Bucks senior vice president Alex Lasry spoke about the Bucks’ efforts to make sure Milwaukee residents are registered in the face of voter suppression as well as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic:

"“We need to make sure people are registered and aware of all the local elections that go on,” Lasry said. “That’s going to have the most impact on our community. I think that’s something that we take very seriously.”Lasry said the Bucks want to be a “community team,” which is why starting Oct. 20 through Nov. 1 voters can go to Fiserv Forum for early voting.“What we’ve seen, especially in the April election, is coronavirus has disproportionately affected communities of color and their ability to vote,” Lasry said.”"

Unfortunately, Lasry and the Bucks’ efforts to make their arena a voting site will no longer be the case. But while both Fiserv Forum and Miller Park are two less sites you can go to, we encourage all BTBP readers to make sure to register and cast their ballot for next month’s election.
