In an anonymous survey reported by The Athletic, a large portion of NBA agents believe Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo stays long-term.

The future of Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the minds of many this offseason.

Of course, with a five-year supermax extension waiting to be presented to him at the start of free agency, it’s only natural for those big questions to come into conversation, given how seismic Antetokounmpo’s decision is and how it will affect the next phase of his playing career.

Clearly there’s no shortage of thoughts, opinions and predictions as to what the back-to-back MVP will do this offseason, all opposing teams clear out cap space to make a run at Antetokounmpo next offseason, should he enter free agency.

Yet, in an anonymous agent survey by The Athletic’s Ben Standig, Mike Vorkunov and more ($$), 18 of the 19 anonymous agents believe Antetokounmpo stays long-term when asked what Antetokounmpo’s future holds in Milwaukee.

Again, this is just the opinions of agents that were asked the question, but it’s a resounding answer when it comes to projecting Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee.

Many agents pointed to what Antetokounmpo has publicly stated about his desire to stay in Milwaukee and collectively working towards winning an NBA championship, potentially as soon as next year. The same goes for passing on such a rich contract that will only ensure Antetokounmpo and his family the long-term security they will have for the rest of their lives.

Of course, the timing of which Antetokounmpo could sign his supermax extension isn’t just limited this offseason as he’s capable of riding out the final year of his current contract and will be eligible to sign the supermax next offseason to stay in Milwaukee, if he so chooses.

The Bucks have the advantage here in terms of offering Antetokounmpo a far richer contract that goes the full five years as opposed to the four years that opposing teams will be able to offer in free agency next offseason.

Again, it might not even come to that point if Antetokounmpo decides to put his signature on his extension offer this winter. But Bucks fans shouldn’t just assume that we’ll have our answer on Antetokounmpo’s decision when this year’s free agency period does eventually open.

When it comes to projecting Antetokounmpo’s long-term future, no one knows what he will do or what he values the most in charting the next course of his playing career. Antetokounmpo has kept his cards close to the vest all throughout the run up to this pivotal moment and that surely won’t change anytime soon.
