The Milwaukee Bucks are not high on trading for Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Chris Paul, but they should reconsider their stance.

Following early postseason exits by both the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder, it was not hard to connect the dots with Chris Paul between the two franchises.

Milwaukee needs an upgrade in the backcourt, and Oklahoma City seems destined for a rebuild, given their historic haul of draft capital over the next several years. Trading Paul would only add to their ever-growing asset assemblage, and the Bucks seemed like an ideal destination.

However, Milwaukee’s ownership quieted any potential trade speculation involving the 10-time All-Star, citing financial issues and personality meshing concerns.

Set to make $41 million next season and holding a player option for 2021-2022 worth $44 million, the 35-year-old would not be a cheap acquisition by any means, and the personality concerns are arguable.

Any speculation involving Paul went quiet since, and ESPN’s Zach Lowe provided an update on the situation in his mega-offseason preview piece Thursday morning:

"“There has been no traction so far — and maybe not even any talks — on any deal sending Chris Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Bucks, multiple sources say.”"

Lowe’s news was nothing new given the organization already distanced themselves from any talk involving Paul, but maybe they should re-evaluate their stance. Heading into a crucial offseason ahead of a championship-or-bust 2020-21 season, at least kicking the tires on a trade involving the surefire Hall of Famer might not be a bad idea.

Whether they decide to or not, here are three reasons why the Milwaukee Bucks should rethink their position on trading for Chris Paul.
