The Milwaukee Bucks are largely pretty set when it comes to their forward depth this offseason, though they’ll likely need some reinforcements in this area of the roster.

The Milwaukee Bucks face plenty of uncertainty as to which direction they will go in this offseason.

With the need to reshape their foundation in light of their latest playoff finish, the Bucks obviously face plenty of pressure to win now at all costs. Where it’s safe to assume any big changes won’t occur, at least not at the top of the depth chart, is within their forward rotation.

More from Bucks News

Of course, the Bucks’ All-Star tandem of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton headline the team in this regard and their overall core. Behind them is where the question of what the forward depth chart will look like going into next season.

We’ve already seen one exit in this regard with Marvin Williams having retired at the end of the Bucks’ season. And more changes will likely soon to follow as we’ll get into shortly.

With all of that, let’s assess where the Bucks’ forward rotation stands going into this pivotal offseason.

Khris Middleton

Coming off the best season of his career, Khris Middleton went a long way in batting away the concerns that were stoked upon him signing a massive five-year, $177 million contract last offseason.

Averaging 20.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists, all while shooting .497/.415/.916 splits over his 62 regular season appearances, Middleton earned his second straight All-Star berth and fell just short of earning his first All-NBA selection last season.

Middleton’s brand of sublime shooting from all three levels of the floor, his patient playmaking and defensive versatility has always proven to be a snug fit alongside Antetokounmpo. But it was during the 2019-20 season where Middleton finally flirted with a long-awaited star turn himself.

Even as the Bucks take the plunge in uprooting their established foundation this offseason, Middleton appears to be safe by all accounts and is entrenched at the 3-spot in their starting lineup. Milwaukee has clearly valued Middleton’s versatile, all-around skill set, especially next to Antetokounmpo, and the fact that he’s in the midst of playing his best basketball has only reinforced his value to the Bucks entering a massive 2020-21 campaign.

Maybe the time will come where the Bucks are forced to ponder dealing away Middleton, but that day doesn’t appear to be coming anytime soon.
