With reports indicating that the Milwaukee Bucks have interest in veteran guard Patty Mills, it is time to detail why he is a fitting trade target.
What the Milwaukee Bucks plan to do at the point guard position has been a hot topic of discussion this offseason.
The team has been in a slew of trade rumors over the past few weeks, which has them linked to several potential candidates to take over the floor general duties from Eric Bledsoe. However, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor dropped some updates on the team’s current status regarding Bledsoe:

"“Multiple league sources say the Bucks are active in trade discussions; they’re looking to move on from Eric Bledsoe, and have offered him to several teams.”"
In addition to the Bledsoe update, O’Connor also reported a potential target of interest for the Bucks, that being San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills:
"“The Spurs are up to something. League sources say they’re shopping point guard Patty Mills, with teams such as the Bucks and Sixers expressing interest.”"
The Australian guard is surely an intriguing candidate for Milwaukee, given their desire to find talent in the backcourt. Dissecting what Patty Mills brings to the table, here are three reasons why the guard is a fitting trade target.
His veteran experience
Despite having the third oldest roster in the NBA this season based on average age, adding some battle-tested veterans should be on the Bucks’ to-do list this offseason. Spending the past nine seasons with the Spurs, Mills knows what it is like to play a part in a winning franchise.
Mills has been to the NBA Finals twice in that span, taking home the Larry O’Brien Trophy in the 2013-14 season. The guard has played alongside some of the greats, including Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, all while playing under arguably the greatest coach ever in Greg Popovich.
As the Spurs missed the postseason in over two decades this season, it was also the first time that Mills missed the playoffs, including the first two seasons of his career spent with the Portland Trail Blazers. The 32-year-old has contributed to a championship-caliber roster, and he could unquestionably do the same with the Bucks.
