Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with midlevel exception
Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with midlevel exception – Jeff Teague
Speaking of reunions, Jeff Teague hitting the open market may open the option to reunite with Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer
It should be noted that at 32 years old, Teague is not the speed demon he once was when he was under Budenholzer’s guidance down in Atlanta midway through last decade.
Still, Teague has something to offer in a reserve role as a backup ball handler, even if he’s coming off a middling season that was split between Minnesota and Atlanta. Teague averaged 10.9 points on 43.6 percent shooting and 36.8 percent from three, along with 5.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds over his 59 appearances.
Teague recently told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype that atop of his priority list going back into free agency is playing for a contender:
"“Honestly, I just want to go to a team where we’re playing to win. I want to win. Like you’ve said, I’ve been to the playoffs for the first nine years of my career. That’s all I know is winning, competing, and trying to get to that ultimate goal of a championship. That’s what I want to play for is to win. If that’s starting or coming off the bench, I just want to play a significant role in winning. That’s really it for me. I know if I get a chance to play and compete, I’m going to play well. I’m not really worried about an exact situation, or I need to be able to start or whatever. I just know if I can get on a team and we’re going to win, I’m going to help in any way, and I’ll affect us winning.”"
Nothing about Teague’s game is overwhelming, but he could be a solid caretaker behind Holiday. And hey, maybe Teague finally comes to Milwaukee more than seven years after he intended to in free agency.
