According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Milwaukee Bucks wing Sterling Brown is heading to the Houston Rockets on a one-year deal.
Sterling Brown is apparently now formerly of the Milwaukee Bucks.
According to Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes, the Houston Rockets and Brown have agreed on a one-year deal that will give Brown the chance to resuscitate his NBA career on what essentially is a flyer-type deal.

That obviously puts an end to Brown’s three-year stint in Milwaukee where he had originally arrived as part of a draft night trade that led to the Bucks acquiring his draft rights from the Philadelphia 76ers.
For the Rockets, they get the 3-and-D role player they have historically valued, even with all of the questions surrounding the future of both James Harden and Russell Westbrook and at a veteran minimum deal.
The reason why Brown agreed to a veteran minimum is certainly informed by the struggles he had last season. In 52 appearances for the 2019-20 season, Brown averaged 5.1 points on .371/.324/.800 shooting splits, 3.2 rebounds and an assist across 14.8 minutes per contest.
For that regression, the Bucks made the decision to bypass tendering his $2 million qualifying offer, although no true announcement was made in that regard.
With Sterling Brown bound for Houston, the Milwaukee Bucks have gone to great lengths to shore up their wing rotation next season.
As we’ve seen over the last couple of days and especially Sunday, the Bucks have addressed their wing rotation. They made the decision to retain Pat Connaughton on a questionable three-year, $16 million deal.
Now, Milwaukee has a pair of newcomers on the wing after having agreed to a two-year deal with former San Antonio Spurs sharpshooter Bryn Forbes and a one-year deal with former Denver Nuggets wing Torrey Craig earlier today. Add in both Donte DiVincenzo and rookie Sam Merrill and the Bucks have cemented their new-look wing rotation around the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton.
Of course, we’ll see how the minutes are divvied out among those options, but the Bucks do have some continuity on the wing, along with the additions they have recently made in both the draft and free agency. Certainly the Bucks had hope that Brown could have developed into a promising piece in the future over his time in Milwaukee, but it just didn’t come to pass.
Hopefully, Brown can enjoy some success down in Houston and assert himself as the player that many envisioned him becoming upon entering the NBA and the best of luck goes out in his future.
