Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has yet to make it known whether he will sign his five-year supermax extension this offseason and has until the day before the start of the 2020-21 season to make his final decision on that matter.

From the beginning of the offseason, there has been a clear line of communication from the two-time MVP and the organization and that continues into the start of training camp as ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explained during an appearance on SportsCenter:
"“As for Giannis, he returned to Milwaukee from Greece over the weekend and the expectation from the team is they will meet with him in the next few days to discuss his contract extension. Now, it’s (at least) $225 million and five years, but he only has until December 21 to make up his mind and it goes away until next summer. Arguably the most important thing in the NBA right now and Giannis is going to have to address it at some point. It’s hanging over the Bucks, but the Bucks are confident he’s going to sign it.”"
Considering that Antetokounmpo had been in Greece for most, if not all of the brief offseason, it’s good to see both superstar and organization bookend their respite with a meeting that will chart the course of the Bucks’ foreseeable future.
As the clock ticks down on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s decision to sign his supermax extension, the Milwaukee Bucks remain confident he will sign it.
There’s no bigger thread hanging over this NBA offseason quite like Antetokounmpo’s decision with his supermax extension offer waiting for his signature.
And all throughout the last few months, the Bucks have remained confident that the 25-year-old will put pen to paper and commit to one of the biggest contracts in NBA history. Whether that confidence will ultimately pay off remains to be seen.
Still, the Bucks made the necessary move to brighten their outlook in the face of their latest playoff disappointment by acquiring Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans. Of course, how the whole Bogdan Bogdanovic saga hangs over Antetokounmpo’s decision is an interesting variable as Antetokounmpo’s involvement in trying to land the Serbian international had been public throughout that ordeal.
Throughout the various ups and downs that unfolded this Bucks offseason, the team came away with a player in Holiday to build out their four-man foundation. They were left with no choice but to go all-in as the questions around Antetokounmpo continue to swirl and they eventually could have their best shot at a title this season.
Whether Antetokounmpo believes that sentiment is unknown, but the argument is there that the Bucks have held up their end of their bargain. We’ll soon see whether Antetokounmpo agrees with that and stick in Milwaukee for the long haul.
