Coming in 22nd on FanSided’s 250 rankings, Milwaukee Bucks fans have every right to be recognized as one of the most passionate fanbases in the NBA.
There’s no question that the last several years for the Milwaukee Bucks have served as a rebirth for the franchise on and off the court.
All Bucks fans know it wasn’t that long ago when the Bucks were mired in obscurity, lacked star power and faced the real threat of being relocated elsewhere and seeing a near half-century worth of memories go down the drain. Now to see the franchise return back to relevancy and then some over the last couple of years, it has reignited the passion that Bucks fans aspired to feel again after seeing the Bucks stuck in the middle for far too long.

From that standpoint, it should come as no surprise that the Bucks have come in at the 22nd spot on FanSided’s 250 list that was rolled out Tuesday morning, the fourth-highest ranking of all NBA teams.
Not just that, but a certain two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Giannis Antetokounmpo ranked 27th on the list, which was the seventh-highest mark of sports figures.
As the project has ranked the fandoms of teams across various sports, television and much more, seeing the Bucks come in so highly on the list shows just how the smashing success they’ve enjoyed has gone beyond the realm of the NBA.
Just last year, the Bucks ranked 104th on FanSided’s 250 list for 2019, while Antetokounmpo ranked in the same exact spot for sports figures after having won the first of his two MVP awards.
After ranking so highly on FanSided’s 250 list, the Milwaukee Bucks’ ongoing renaissance has been reflected in the sports world at large.
Of course, it’s the presence of Antetokounpo that has made this era such a thrilling one to experience for Bucks fans in general. The 26-year-old is virtually synonymous with the Bucks at this point, even as questions surround him and his long-term future as of this writing.
Being one of two players in franchise history to win an MVP award, the other being Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Antetokounmpo stands in the rarified air of sports athletes across the four major sports in North America. The fact that he comes with an international flavor and a legion of Greek fans celebratinghis successes and towering achievements nearly halfway across the world further highlights just how special and unique Antetokounmpo is to his counterparts.
For Antetokounmpo to become a worldwide star in a city like Milwaukee has certainly created a special bond between Bucks fans and the Greek superstar, especially as he’s helped raise the team out of irrelevancy.
That, in turn, has spurred on the Bucks’ pursuit of a second NBA title in franchise history. With it nearly being 50 years since the Bucks first won it all when Abdul-Jabbar was in town, perhaps the stars will align for the Bucks to win it all for the 2020-21 season.
In the meantime, all Bucks fans will continue to celebrate these glory days that had been well overdue. Being able to watch a player as special as Antetokounmpo every night has certainly made up for the many years that were filled with hardships and dreaming of ways to make it back to the promise land.
