The Milwaukee Bucks reconstructed their depth this offseason, but where does the current center rotation stand with training camp underway?
One of the most apparent uncertainties surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason, aside from Giannis Antetokounmpo, is the team’s depth at the center position.
The Bucks went through a roster remodeling this offseason, but their center rotation remains scarce. This lack of depth stems from Robin Lopez’s departure after he signed with the Washington Wizards this offseason, having surprisingly opted out of his $5 million player option for 2020-21 to remain in Milwaukee.

With Robin gone, Milwaukee had to bring in some new pieces off the market to fill the vacancy, and here is how their center rotation currently checks out with their new additions.
Center No. 4 – Justin Patton
Justin Patton has been well-traveled throughout his time in the NBA, and now he finds himself participating in training camp with the Bucks.
Patton is a familiar face within the organization, as he suited up for the Bucks’ G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, in seven games last season. In his short stint with the team, Patton averaged 12 points on .449/.368/.667 shooting splits, 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, and 1.5 assists across 24.6 minutes per game.
Patton is a strong defensive-minded big man at the center position, but it remains to be seen whether he can make the Bucks’ opening night roster. As his deal is currently just limited to camp, it will surely be an uphill battle for the 23-year-old given the team’s limited roster openings and flexibility. Over the first three seasons of his career, Patton has appeared in just nine games for three different franchises and will likely be on the move once again fairly soon.
