After spending four years with the Orlando Magic, D.J. Augustin joins the Milwaukee Bucks, and here are three goals for the veteran in 2020-21.

The Milwaukee Bucks got their next sixth man when they inked veteran point guard D.J. Augustin to a three-year deal worth $21 million this offseason.

Milwaukee got a good look at Augustin during their first round matchup with the Orlando Magic, and both parties clearly saw something they liked. Indeed, the veteran expressed his excitement to play with his new Bucks teammates, as he stated during his media availability:

More from Bucks News

"“It’s gonna be great playing with Giannis, all these guys I’m excited to play with, everybody has such unique talent. This is the first time I’ve been on a team like that with so many guys that can do so many things”"

Augustin appears as excited as the rest of us for next season to start, but here are three goals that the journeyman should have for the 2020-21 season with his new team.

Goal No. 3 – Provide playmaking in the second unit

Mike Budenholzer touched on this during his media availability, but Augustin is a strong playmaking point guard. That was something the Bucks needed this offseason after losing both George Hill and Eric Bledsoe, and Augustin is a solid choice to run the second unit.

Throughout his 864 career games, Augustsin has built up a career average of 4.0 assists per game. The guard does a little bit of everything with the ball in his hands from finding open shooters to making plays in the pick-and-roll. Now, 12 seasons in, Augustin boasts a career 2.65 assist-to-turnover ratio, and a career 26.7 assist percentage.

While that number might not jump off the page, it is feasible as a second-string point guard, and will undoubtedly help the Bucks in lineups without the likes of Jrue Holiday or Giannis Antetokounmpo.
