The Milwaukee Bucks are constantly looking at ways to improve their roster, and the next few days will present them with more opportunities to do so.
Their recent trade for P.J. Tucker has opened up a pair of roster spots and some financial leeway, giving the front office the opportunity to fill the holes in the roster. Making another splash before the March 25 trade deadline might seem a bit far-fetched unless they plan on utilizing their newly acquired $4.8 million trade exception, given Milwaukee’s depleted asset assemblage.

However, the buyout market could be of use for general manager Jon Horst to add some more talent. While the overall buyout market following the trade deadline is shaping up to be dry, there have been several compelling names thrown around as potential suitors.
The Bucks made a sizeable splash on the market last year when they signed Marvin Williams after he was bought out by the Hornets. Williams soon became a key rotational piece after being deemed one of the most in-demand targets available.
With their championship stakes raised even higher this season, the Bucks will look to certainly remain aggressive in adding more pieces to this already highly-talented roster. With that being said, here are three potential buyout targets for the Milwaukee Bucks to monitor as the trade deadline nears.
First potential buyout candidate for the Milwaukee Bucks — Wayne Ellington
The Bucks are always looking to add more shooting, which makes Wayne Ellington a feasible buyout candidate for them to monitor.
Averaging 10.6 points on .446/.422/.741 shooting splits, the guard has been having a stellar year for the Detroit Pistons. Numbers like that make him a feasible trade target for contenders, but The Athletic’s Jason Quick ($$) reports that the guard is a rumored candidate to hit the buyout market if a trade does not occur before the upcoming March 25 deadline.
With the Pistons embracing their youth, they would likely grant the 33-year-old Ellington the opportunity to use his services to help out a contending squad. If so, the Bucks should be among those at the forefront of his potential suitors because of that sharpshooting he would bring to the table off the bench.
Shooting 42.2 percent on 6.4 attempts this season, Ellington would provide the Bucks with another complementary piece for Giannis Antetokounmpo offensively. Milwaukee’s bench currently boasts the second-best 3-point percentage in the league at 41 percent, and adding another lethal shooter like Ellington in the mix would only fortify it further.
