Along with that, the Bucks are fresh off of adding their big midseason reinforcement, that being P.J. Tucker, who made his Bucks debut in their win over the Spurs.
So without further ado, let’s hand out our three Milwaukee Bucks stars of the week after yet another strong run of performances.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is the Milwaukee Bucks’ first star of the week
Continuing a story we’ve all heard before, Giannis Antetokounmpo was simply unstoppable as the Bucks picked up wins against the Wizards, 76ers and the Spurs last week.
Whether Antetokounmpo’s performances should have him enter this year’s MVP discussion remains to be seen, but the fact that the Bucks have hit their stride bolsters his case. Over the Bucks’ three wins, Antetokounmpo averaged 29.7 points on 57.6 percent shooting from the field (4-for-12 from three 17-for-21 from free throw line), 12.7 rebounds, 10 assists and a steal in 37.4 minutes per game.
Antetokounmpo’s dominance showed in different ways as the Bucks added to their win streak. In the Bucks’ win over the Wizards, Antetokounmpo was transcendent as he picked up his third straight triple-double and seventh such outing of the season. In Philadelphia, Antetokounmpo helped vault the Bucks’ comeback over the top and earn their first overtime victory of the year. And on Staurday night, Antetokounmpo dished out a career-high 15 assists in the Bucks’ win over the Spurs.
In each and every game, Antetokounmpo has let the game come to him and and has paced himself in games and the season as a whole. That’s best seen by the fact that Antetokounmpo’ is averaging 16.1 points per game in second halves alone, a mark that trails Wizards All-Star guard Bradley Beal.
What’s becoming clear with each passing game and week is that Antetokounmpo is redefining his dominance, especially as the Bucks’ identity has evolved under head coach Mike Budenholzer. That alone serves as the biggest ezcitement to what is possible for the Bucks as they look to make it out of the East and make a trip to the NBA Finals this season.
