Milwaukee Bucks: 3 free agents that could fill final roster spot

The Milwaukee Bucks have certainly taken an aggressive approach in tuning up their roster as the season has progressed to this point.

Shaking up the roster by trading for defensive specialist P.J. Tucker and adding veteran guard Jeff Teague, the front office has elected to go all in for a championship this season. They might not be done just yet, as with one roster spot still vacant, the Bucks have an opportunity to add the final piece to the puzzle before the playoffs roll around.

However, they will have to act fast as the deadline to sign a player off the buyout market and have them eligible to play in the postseason is this coming Sunday, April 11. That rapidly approaching deadline will have general manager Jon Horst busy on the phones between now and then.

It appears that was the case on Wednesday, as The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the Bucks were interested in free agent sharpshooter Ben McLemore before he signed a deal for the remainder of the season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Although they struck out on McLemore, there are still several candidates for the Bucks to choose from to round out the edges of their roster. With that being said, here are three players that they should consider adding before Sunday’s deadline.

Milwaukee Bucks should consider signing free agent wing Glenn Robinson III

Adding more talent on the wing is always a solid idea for the Bucks, and one name they should consider is Glenn Robinson III.

The 27-year-old started the season off with the Sacramento Kings but could never find his footing with the club. Appearing in 23 games, Robinson averaged 5.3 points on .424/.364/.913 shooting splits, two rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 16 minutes per contest before the team waived him. Although his numbers do not jump off the page, Robinson could be a solid option to supply Milwaukee with more depth.

Robinson is just one season removed from a career year where he averaged 11.7 points per game with the Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers. He could contribute a nice scoring burst off the bench while adding a nice touch of floor spacing as a career 37.3 percent 3-point shooter. Defensively, his 6’6″ stature would give the Bucks another solid presence on the perimeter to throw at opposing wings defensively.

Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson was selected first overall by the Bucks in the 1994 NBA Draft, and perhaps his son could soon end up with the team as well. While he would not play a prominent role in the rotation, Robinson could be a nice piece to shore up Milwaukee’s two-way efforts in a second unit that has been inconsistent this season.
