As the Milwaukee Bucks continue navigating through roster issues due to injuries and the health and safety protocols, they have brought in some reinforcements to try and ease the bleeding.

The team has reportedly signed veteran guard Langston Galloway to a 10-day contract, as first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Galloway has played in four games this season across two 10-day stints with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging three points and two rebounds across 14.5 minutes per contest. Coincidentally, the Bucks will play the Nets tomorrow night in what should be a thrilling matchup, and Galloway could be in uniform to square off against his former team.

What does Langston Galloway bring to the table for the Milwaukee Bucks?

First and foremost, Galloway is an available body that can shore up Milwaukee’s depth at a very depleted guard position. In addition to Donte DiVincenzo being sidelined for multiple weeks with an ankle sprain, the Bucks are currently without both Pat Connaughton and Grayson Allen due to protocols. With three crucial contributors sidelined, bringing in a veteran like Galloway is a smart move for the defending champions to stay afloat in the meantime.

Aside from being available to suit up, Galloway should provide more scoring whenever he takes the floor for the Bucks. The seven-year NBA veteran has averaged 8.1 points per game during his career, providing a solid spark wherever he goes. He has also shot a serviceable 36.9 percent from three on 3.9 attempts per game in that same timeframe, so he will be another passable shooter to bring into the mix for the time being. His role will not be sizeable with the Bucks, but he could be a useful piece.

Given how much Milwaukee’s bench has struggled to contribute offensively this season – putting up the 27th most points per game in the league – bringing in a player like Galloway could help. The Bucks certainly need the offense off the bench as the team is without their leading second unit scorer in Connaughton and waived another contributor in DeMarcus Cousins last night. Galloway will not change life for the Bucks, but he has the potential to be a solid rotation piece temporarily, which is all they need.

On impact, this is a low-risk move for the Bucks by all accounts. With the team thinned out at the guard position, a move like this should not be surprising as they needed some temporary help. Among their few choices on the open market, Galloway made sense because he is an established veteran that has proven he can still play, as showcased with the Nets briefly this season.

Unless he outright lights it up with the Bucks, Galloway will likely stick around until the Bucks get any combination of DiVincenzo, Connaughton, and Allen back in the lineup. There is currently no timetable for either of the three etched in stone, so Galloway will be given the chance to showcase his talents with another premier contender. Time will tell if the guard suits up for the champs in tomorrow’s must-see clash with the Nets.
