The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching, and with rumors swirling amongst the Milwaukee Bucks, there is one specific player who they should trade for. Swingman Cam Reddish of the New York Knicks is a player they have been targeting, and for good reasons.

Why the Milwaukee Bucks should trade for rumored target Cam Reddish

Like every team, the Milwaukee Bucks have some needs on their roster that need to be addressed come the trade deadline on February 9, 2023. A lack of wing depth is a glaring issue on the roster. Trading for Reddish would instantly provide the roster with more wing depth, as he is a bigger wing defender who would fill a major need.

It makes perfect sense for the Bucks to target him, as he is a solid defender. His length and quickness on the defensive side of the ball could most definitely help, although he’s not necessarily known as a lockdown defender. He also possesses the ability to hit the open shot and is a solid lane penetrator as well. While he is a streaky shooter, he would instantly be a reliable shot-creator off the bench. His youth is another reason why the Bucks should pull the trigger on a trade for him. The roster is in dire need of some youth and athleticism.

It is currently being reported that the Milwaukee Bucks have an interest in the 6-foot-8 forward and have been trying to obtain him via trade. Per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Bucks have looked into trading a second rounder and salary filler for Reddish.

A deal for Reddish could look like George Hill, Jordan Nwora, and two second round draft picks for Reddish and Svi Mykhailiuk. This may not be a groundbreaking trade, but it would fill their needs. The Bucks would unfortunately not be able to swap Hill for Reddish straight up, which is why a player like Jordan Nwora or another low-contract player (salary fillers), would have to be included in the deal.

Reddish appears to be one of the most popular trade targets throughout the league. He has fallen out of the rotation in New York and has only played in 20 games this season, while not appearing in a game since December 3, 2022, for the Knicks. On the season so far, he is averaging 8.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and one assist per game. These aren’t exactly gaudy numbers, but this is mainly due to the fact that he’s not being awarded any playing time currently. There is no question surrounding his talent. He definitely possesses the capability of becoming a standout two-way player if provided the opportunity.

Only time will tell as to what trades, if any, the Milwaukee Bucks will pull off at the upcoming trade deadline.

One thing is certain, though. Trading for Cam Reddish might just be the exact type of sparkplug that the Bucks need. They are in dire need of such a player to come off the bench and help propel an inconsistent unit that is severely lacking in depth.
