With the NBA trade deadline set for February 9, the Milwaukee Bucks will be looking to upgrade their roster.
With names like Eric Gordon, Jae Crowder, and Bojan Bogdanovic mentioned as rumored targets, the Bucks are looking for some upgrades. One rumored target to keep a close eye on is New York Knicks’ forward Cam Reddish, who has only played in 20 games this season and hasn’t played in a game since December 3. HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported recently that the Bucks have considered trading a second round pick and salary filler for Reddish.
If the Knicks’ asking price has dropped down to picks and filler, here are the pros and cons of the Milwaukee Bucks making a run at the young forward.
NBA Trades: The pros of the Milwaukee Bucks trading for Cam Reddish
There is a multitude of reasons why the Bucks should be interested in acquiring Cam Reddish.
The first is a flashback to the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals when Reddish was a member of the Atlanta Hawks. Reddish had a great series with averages of 12 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in four games played. I bring that up because Reddish has a lot of high-quality basketball left in him, and with the right team, could get a fair shot on a title-contending team.
The other is Reddish would add instant offense to the bench unit in Milwaukee. Currently, the Bucks are right in the middle of the pack in the league in bench scoring with only averaging 34.3 points on average. The current unit of Joe Ingles, Wesley Matthews, Pat Connaughton, and Jevon Carter has shown a large enough sample size to not be able to carry the scoring load when Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, and Khris Middleton go out.
Those core bench guys stepping up, especially in crucial moments is indicative of a team’s success, and based on what we’ve seen so far, Milwaukee’s bench is inconsistent and will ultimately be their downfall if they don’t add another piece before the deadline.
