In the 2022-23 regular season, the Milwaukee Bucks were one of four teams to make 1,200 or more 3-pointers (1,217).

They were one of four teams that attempted 3,300 or more 3-pointers (3,306) and were 10th in the league with a 3-point shooting percentage of .368 (Philadelphia topped the league with a .387 percentage on threes).

Obviously, shooting threes was an important part of the Bucks’ game last season, but how important was 3-point shooting to the team’s success in the win-loss column? Consider this:

The Milwaukee Bucks’ 3-point deficiency in the playoffs

Playoffs: In the Bucks’ 4-1 loss to the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs, they shot .350 from the 3-point line in three games and went 1-2; in the two games they were below .350, they lost. The Bucks attempted 40 or more threes in two games, losing both. In the three games they attempted 40 plus, they went 1-2. The Bucks had more threes made in one game (Game 2) and won that contest. In the four games won by Miami, they had more or the same number of threes made in each of those games.

One more stat: The Bucks actually had a slightly better winning percentage in games when they attempted less than 40 threes in a game versus 40 or more threes attempted. The Bucks were 28-11 (.718) in games when they attempted fewer than 40 threes and 30-13 (.698) when they attempted 40 or more threes.
