The Milwaukee Bucks have gone through countless roster changes this season, but it appears that after their latest moves, things may be set.
After promoting Ryan Rollins by giving him a standard contract and immediately filling his place by signing Jamaree Bouyea to a two-way, Milwaukee's roster has 18 players. With the trade deadline long over and the buyout market drying up, the odds of the Bucks making another move seem slim. That said, let us break down the 18-player group the Milwaukee Bucks currently employ.
Milwaukee Bucks updated roster after Rollins, Bouyea moves
Point guard - Damian Lillard, Kevin Porter Jr., Ryan Rollins, Jamaree Bouyea (Two-way)
Shooting guard - Taurean Prince, AJ Green, Gary Trent Jr., Andre Jackson Jr., Pat Connaughton, Stanley Umude (Two-way)
Small forward - Kyle Kuzma, Chris Livingston
Power forward - Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tyler Smith, Pete Nance (Two-way)
Center - Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Jericho Sims
Even after earning the promotion, Ryan Rollins will remain Milwaukee's third-string point guard behind Damian Lillard and Kevin Porter Jr. Jamaree Bouyea will serve as the fourth-string, but he will likely be down in the G-League before their season ends to get some reps under his belt.
It might appear that the Milwaukee Bucks are thin at small forward and power forward, but the truth is that Prince, Kuzma and Antetokounmpo can all cycle between different positions to fill the gaps when certain situations call for it, giving the team some eye-popping versatility.
As evidenced by their impressive play lately, the Milwaukee Bucks have put together a strong roster following the NBA Trade Deadline.
A sizeable factor in this has to do with the newcomers buying in and fulfilling their roles. Kyle Kuzma has given the team a do-it-all threat on both ends of the floor. Kevin Porter Jr. has taken this second unit to a new level. Jericho Sims has been the athletic big man this team so desperately needed.
Speaking of Sims, he's played a much larger role lately due to the suspension of center Bobby Portis. Looking at the depth chart, it will be fascinating to see how Doc Rivers aims to use his backup bigs in the coming weeks and into the NBA Playoffs, especially with how well Sims has played lately. Outside of that, Rivers has seemingly found a solid rotation that will stay the same, health permitting.
