Bucks desperately need Jaylen Brown rumor to fail for Tyler Herro's sake

The Milwaukee Bucks better hope the Detroit Pistons avoid Jaylen Brown so they can still trade for Tyler Herro.

The Milwaukee Bucks better hope that the Detroit Pistons don’t go through with the slight interest they could have in swapping Jalen Duren for Jaylen Brown. Because if they do, then the Pistons probably wouldn’t want Tyler Herro anymore. And the Bucks should still be trying to scour the market for potential Herro trades.

Long before the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade went through, there were reports that the Pistons could be interested in trading for Herro. Just because Herro is in Milwaukee now doesn’t mean that interest has completely faded. And though Herro could be solid for the Bucks, it would make more sense for them to try to extract some value for him.

So, the Bucks should be hoping that Detroit doesn’t find its Cade Cunningham complementary piece elsewhere (Brown).

Bucks need Pistons to keep Jalen Duren so they can trade for Tyler Herro

Keeping Herro would be fine. The Bucks could keep him on board and roll through next season swimmingly. He’s the type of guy who could help them down the line.

But the Bucks aren’t winning anything anytime soon. They aren’t going to be a playoff team next year. So, they should be focusing on rebuilding for the future.

And as things stand, Milwaukee doesn’t have any need to worry about Ping Pong balls. The Bucks don’t have their own pick. They don’t have any of their picks for a long, long time.

So, rather than worrying about what pieces could fit best in the long run, the Bucks should be concerned with restocking their draft cabinet. That should be the top priority.

They already did that a little bit in their trade with the Heat, but there can always be more picks to be added. And trading Herro would certainly help them in that quest.

And since the Pistons already reportedly had interest, why not reignite that fire? Herro could be a great secondary shot creator next to Cunningham in Detroit.

The Pistons desperately need additional offense, and Herro could be that for them. Meanwhile, the Bucks would land some draft capital to help build their pool of youth.

None of that will happen if the Pistons actually tried to go through with a Duren-for-Brown swap, though. Brown would take care of their need for offense. They wouldn’t need Herro anymore.

So, the Bucks need the Pistons to keep Duren. They need the Boston Celtics to trade Brown elsewhere. That way, the Pistons could still be a landing spot for Herro.
