Now that their 2025-26 season is over, the Milwaukee Bucks turn their attention to what should be an eventful offseason. Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the franchise is the NBA's biggest story, and some think he's already a goner. ESPN's Shams Charania reports that even those in the highest parts of Milwaukee's front office have come to terms with a Giannis trade coming to fruition.
If Giannis does indeed depart from the Cream City, things will change mightily. Here are five other Bucks who could be on their way out the door soon after.
Thanasis and Alex Antetokounmpo
This one should be far from controversial. If Giannis leaves, it would create an awkward situation if the Bucks were to keep his brothers. Thanasis is set to be a free agent, while Alex is on a two-way, so they can both depart quietly. Neither player made much of an impact for the Milwaukee Bucks rotationally this season and could join Giannis wherever he lands next.
Myles Turner
The Milwaukee Bucks jumped through so many hoops and risked their financial flexibility to acquire Myles Turner because they thought he'd fit with Giannis. If the Bucks trade Giannis, Turner could still be a nice piece, but if Milwaukee acquired a young center like Kel'el Ware from Miami, it would be wise to hand him the keys to the center spot and try to get assets for Turner.
Gary Trent Jr.
This one feels plausible whether Giannis stays or goes. Trent sacrificed quite a bit financially to return to Milwaukee last summer, and that backfired. He was in and out of the rotation with no clear role on a nightly basis. With a player option worth just over the minimum, it wouldn't be surprising if he declined that to find a place where he can secure a more definitive role.
Doc Rivers
This is another situation where it feels like they should be gone no matter what. Yet, last summer, the Bucks reportedly kept Rivers because they thought it would help convince Giannis to stay, per insider Marc Stein (subscription required). It did, but it potentially won't matter in the long run after the ugly season Milwaukee just put together. If Giannis departs, they have all the more reason to part ways.
Rivers' recent comments about wanting to spend time with his grandkids also hint that he's ready to leave the sidelines on his own terms. Whether Giannis stays or goes, that feels like a non-negotiable move for the Milwaukee Bucks. It's time to start fresh this summer.
