Photos from the official Marquette X (Twitter) page make it apparent that Kameron Jones, rocking a Milwaukee Bucks shirt, has conducted a workout with the franchise. Jones is the type of player that the Bucks are quite familiar with, as Yahoo! Sports NBA writer Kevin O'Connor compared the guard to Donte DiVincenzo, a player they drafted long ago.
Bucks could get their next DiVincenzo in Jones
The two do share a handful of similarities. Both are crafty combo guards who can space the floor but also attack inside. They're also quality defenders, using their versatile builds to defend players of all different shapes and sizes. Both players possess quality athleticism but might never be the most explosive player on the floor in an NBA game.
Milwaukee could absolutely use a DiVincenzo-esque player as they look to retool the roster with more of a focus on youth and athleticism in mind. The guard, coming off his best scoring season in college at 19.2 points per game, could serve as a second-unit scorer. He also took massive strides as a facilitator, jumping from 2.4 assists per game last year to 5.9 this year. That could certainly help.
It appears that the Milwaukee Bucks could address the backcourt, whether through the draft or the undrafted pool, soon after, based on their workout attendees. That would make sense, as the Bucks will only have Damian Lillard, who is hurt, on the roster once free agency begins. Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins can hit free agency, while AJ Green and Andre Jackson Jr. have non-guaranteed deals.
While there's a world where all four of those players come back, it wouldn't hurt to add another young combo guard like Kameron Jones to beef up the rotation.
The big question with Jones is whether or not he will be available when the Milwaukee Bucks are on the clock at 47th overall. ESPN's latest mock draft has him going 46th overall, while The Athletic has him going 35th. The senior's placement is all over the place in mock drafts, so there's no telling if he will be available for the Bucks without a possible trade up.
Though the on-court production is what matters most, Jones does have the eye of some Bucks fans more so than others due to his Wisconsin ties. The guard spent his entire four-year college career at Marquette, growing into the soon-to-be draft pick he is.
