The Milwaukee Bucks have their eyes on the NBA Draft and who they may select at 10th overall. This year's draft class is stacked, and there are so many different routes the Bucks can go. Alabama guard Labaron Philon Jr. is reportedly drawing interest from Milwaukee, with the team clearly looking to bolster their backcourt with another electric scorer who can play pesky defense.

Bucks are intrigued by Labaron Philon Jr.

ESPN's Jeremy Woo released his latest draft big board and said, "Philon is drawing interest from teams in the lottery, including Dallas and Milwaukee at the high end." It is such a strong guard class for the Bucks to consider, should they want to add to their backcourt and have a variety of options.

Philon has a brilliant ability to create for himself and score at all three levels, something the Bucks have lacked on their roster. His handle is impressive and is one of his selling points, along with his ability to score off the bounce and facilitate as a lead guard. Defensively, he likes to gamble a lot and is a nuisance, making him a potentially nice partner alongside Ryan Rollins or with Kevin Porter Jr., should he stick around in Wisconsin.

In his sophomore season, he averaged 22 points, five assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals on shooting splits of .501/.399/.798. There is potential for Philon to slide in the lottery with the number of guards available. Many predict him to be a sixth-man type of guard, providing a scoring punch off the bench, which is something the Bucks can certainly use, but at pick 10, he may be a slight reach.

Questions linger about the Bucks backcourt

With Giannis Antetokounmpo's injury-riddled season, the backcourt became the strongest group on the Bucks' roster as Rollins took a huge leap and Porter showed the heights he can reach, albeit inconsistently at times. The latter has a player option on his contract. Gary Trent Jr. was poor but still has a player option.

Gary Harris is another veteran with a player option, AJ Green is still on the roster, and Cormac Ryan impressed as a two-way player down the stretch. There are so many questions about who will still be in town come training camp.

The backcourt is an area that still needs attention in terms of both quality and depth, so it is understandable why the Milwaukee Bucks are potentially targeting a guard in this year's draft.

There is no doubting the ability and potential of Philon, but there are so many talented guards in this class that if any drop, the Bucks could have a steal on their hands. Brayden Burries is someone who could drop to 10 and would be a strong pickup for the Bucks.

Philon may be too similar to a Rollins or Porter, and his size at 6-foot-2 is something that people will always have questions over, despite plenty of undersized guards having success in the league. He would be a really nice complementary piece alongside Giannis as someone who can feed off the attention the star gets.

Outside of Rollins, it could be a completely different guard group that we see in Milwaukee come the start of the 2026-27 season. Philon is certainly intriguing, but there could still be better guards on the board when it gets to their pick. Were they to trade down, it would be a pick that makes more sense, but the Bucks clearly have their eyes on bolstering their backcourt.
