The Milwaukee Bucks are aggressive as they come in trades, and that approach remains the same with their G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd. The Oshkosh-based team has been busy over the last few days, making a couple of trades, including one for Lindell Wigginton. Fans familiar with the Bucks and Herd will recognize that name.
Herd bring back a recognizable face Bucks fans should remember
Per the Herd, they've acquired returning player rights to Jeremiah Tilmon and Lindell Wigginton as well as a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA G League Player Draft. In return, the Greenboro Swarm acquired Ibou Badji. Sure, it's not an earth-shattering trade by any means, but it brings back a face who has been synonymous with the Herd in recent years.
Wigginton, who is currently the Herd's all-time leading scorer, first joined the team in October 2021. Early in 2022, he made his way to the big leagues, inking a two-way deal with the Bucks. He returned to the Herd in the fall before inking another two-way deal with the Bucks. In early 2024, he left the NBA to play overseas, where he has been since.
Wigginton's stats with the Herd were impressive. In 2021-22, he averaged 16.4 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.9 rebounds. He took a major leap the following year, averaging 22.3 points, six assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. It was mainly due to his growth as an efficient scorer, shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and 38.6 percent from three compared to 40 and 20.3 percent the year prior.
The 27-year-old guard has kept the ball rolling overseas over the last couple of seasons, averaging 17.6 points, 5.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.
Now, if he wants to return to the states, the Wisconsin Herd have his rights and can offer him a spot. He's still young, so his goal is likely to get back to the NBA. It depends on which route he may want to take to ultimately get there. Currently, it feels like plenty of players are more compelled to take the overseas route, and perhaps Wigginton is, too.
If the Herd bring in Wigginton, they will have an assortment of point guard talent. Mark Sears and Jamaree Bouyea are both on two-ways with the Milwaukee Bucks, while the Herd also just traded for Kira Lewis Jr. in another aggressive move. It would be interesting to see these four battle it out as the Bucks watch on, consistently keeping an eye on their talent in the state.
