With Giannis Antetokounmpo's recent comments making it seem like he wants to stick around with the Milwaukee Bucks, potential interested suitors like the San Antonio Spurs may have to pivot. The Spurs, loaded with assets, could go for the next best player likely to be available this offseason if they are star-hunting, and that's Kevin Durant, who could form a lethal trio with Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.

Spurs could add a future Hall of Famer after Giannis' comments

Kevin Durant will move atop plenty of teams' wish lists this offseason if Giannis Antetokounmpo does indeed remain committed to the Milwaukee Bucks. Just like when it came to Giannis, one could argue that the Spurs have the best trade offer in the NBA. In fact, San Antonio could likely piece together the best offer without including the No. 2 pick in this upcoming draft. That's how loaded they are.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Wembanyama, and De'Aaron Fox would have been an electric trio, likely the league's best had it happened, but KD, Wemby, and Fox would be nothing to scoff at either. Even at 36, Durant was still elite this past season, averaging 26.6 points and 4.2 assists per game. Pair that with the 24.4 points and 11 rebounds per game from Wemby and 23.5 points from Fox, and the rest of the NBA may be in trouble.

The sheer basketball ability on display, such as the dribbling, shot-making, and agility that these two 7-footers and one of the fastest guards in the league would display on the court simultaneously would be unlike anything the NBA has seen. Despite the contrast in age, the fit makes too much sense if the Spurs want to truly take a swing and become a legitimate threat to make a run at a championship next season.

Prominent NBA voice Bill Simmons wonders if a deal may even already be done and the two teams are just waiting to announce it until the week of the draft. It's a justifiable theory that could end the Kevin Durant sweepstakes before they begin. While the Phoenix Suns should cast a wide net across the trade landscape, no one can outbid what the Spurs can offer when it comes to picks and players.

Only time will tell if speculation becomes a reality, but Giannis' commitment to the Milwaukee Bucks may be the catalyst for a new dynamic trio in the Western Conference.
