No matter who you are, rejection hurts. Former Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley is currently feeling that, as ESPN's Olgun Uluc reports that the veteran guard was recently turned down by the Perth Wildcats for an opportunity to continue playing basketball. After a lengthy career overseas and in the NBA, Beverley's options are seemingly running out.

Former Milwaukee Bucks guard is still seeking his next opportunity

Stepping away from the NBA last season to play for Hapoel Tel Aviv, Beverley didn't have a bad year. His averages of 9.4 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game didn't steal the show, but he was a fine contributor. Yet, it appears the Wildcats weren't impressed, as they've decided to pass up on the opportunity to bring in the All-Defensive honoree.

Beverley remains persistent in pursuing an NBA comeback, but it will be hard for him to climb that mountain if even clubs overseas won't take a swing on him.

If Beverley calls it a career, his NBA tenure will have ended with the Milwaukee Bucks. A trade with the Philadelphia 76ers sent him to Milwaukee in 2024, where he quickly became a key piece under coach Doc Rivers. He started in all six of Milwaukee's playoff games that season, trying his best to give this undermanned team some support, but he couldn't do it alone as the Bucks team fell to Indiana.

Beverley actually wasn't too bad during his time in Milwaukee. Rarely did he stuff the stat sheet to the brim, but he always provided a constant source of energy and hustle, even with an injured wrist. For a team that felt like it was dragging its feet far too often, he was a needed shot in the arm, even if the numbers didn't always back it up.

He went out on a low note, with the NBA suspending him for several games once the series ended due to an interaction with Indiana Pacers fans that was obviously fueled by frustration. He was even named in a lawsuit for that situation. That entire situation could have certainly played a part in teams deciding not to pursue the veteran point guard despite his name recognition.

If Beverley remains interested in making it back to the NBA, his best bet is waiting things out to see if anyone needs a point guard soon. An injury or absence could transpire at any moment, and the first things teams will look for on the call sheet is players with experience. The former Bucks guard would certainly jump at the first opportunity to get back on the NBA hardwood.
