All of the trade chatter surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks right now involves Giannis Antetokounmpo, but there's another player garnering plenty of attention. Per NBA insider Jake Fischer, Myles Turner's name would be a hot one on the trade market if the Bucks were to trade their superstar and listen to offers on everyone else on this roster.
"Myles Turner, who I think will have a market... If Milwaukee does decide to part with Giannis and open up trade conversations, I think he'd be another very interesting center."
Myles Turner could help fetch more assets if Bucks retool
It's worth noting right now that the Milwaukee Bucks reportedly aren't entertaining trade discussions involving Giannis. Currently, they've planted their flag and want to keep their star. However, things are always subject to change. At the drop of a hat, the Bucks could trade Giannis and begin a new era. It's unlikely Myles Turner would be a part of that.
In a post-Giannis world, the Bucks would likely try to fetch as many assets as they could for players on their payroll. While Turner hasn't had a fantastic season, putting up 12.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game, the big man would immediately become one of the most in-demand names on the block, and the Bucks could get some nice capital for him.
Fischer brought up an interesting point to reinforce this case, talking about the current names on the trade market at the center. Anthony Davis will catch plenty of eyes, but he's making $54 million this year and has injury concerns. Domantas Sabonis is on the books for just over $42 million. Turner is taking home $25 million this season. He's more affordable right now than those other names.
In a separate setting, Fischer (subscription required) speculated whether or not the Golden State Warriors would make sense as a Turner suitor. They have expressed interest in the big man in the past, and they now have a near-perfect salary match in Jonathan Kuminga. If they were to attach some desirable draft capital to him, perhaps they could forge a nice trade package for Turner.
For now, as mentioned, these two are likely staying right where they are. Recent reports suggest that the Milwaukee Bucks will look to beef up their roster as buyers. They want to surround Giannis with a better supporting cast rather than send him to one. They have time to do it, but if they don't get back on the right track soon, this conversation will absolutely be worth revisiting in the near future.
