The Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings both have Texas Tech's Darrion Williams on their list of 2025 NBA Draft prospects to work out, per HoopsHype. If the Bucks, who hold the 47th selection in that draft, see something they like in their workout and have legitimate interest in selecting Williams, they will have to cross their fingers that the Kings pass on him at 42.
Williams has potential, but might not be slam dunk for Bucks
There's a lot to like about Darrion Williams's potential fit in Milwaukee. At 6-foot-6, 225 lbs, he's built, and he uses that stature to be a versatile defender every single trip down the court. Statistically, he's coming off a great three-year collegiate run, having averaged 11.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, three assists and 1.3 steals per game. He does a little bit of everything with a seemingly endless motor.
Despite his lack of athleticism, arguably Williams' biggest flaw and what should give the Bucks the most pause when it comes to drafting him, he could be a solid NBA player. If the Kings pass on him and he's still available at 47, taking him would certainly make some sense, as the Bucks could use a do-it-all player, especially one as versatile defensively, even with the athleticism concerns.
For now, the Bucks and Kings are the only teams with Williams on their workout list, but more will be added in time. Over the next few weeks, the Milwaukee Bucks will continue taking a look at players of all shapes and sizes as they aim to find a difference-maker in the NBA Draft. Even if it's the 47th pick, this class has plenty of standout names who could help this team if given the opportunity.
If the Milwaukee Bucks do miss out on Williams, the good news is that this upcoming class is loaded with big wings and forwards who should be available late, so they wouldn't be out of options entirely. John Tonje, Micah Peavy, Koby Brea and many more eye-catching prospects could give Milwaukee the size, youth and skill sets they are seeking at the forward spots.
Ultimately, there's just no telling what direction they might go in right now; that's the beauty of the NBA Draft. For now, all we can do is monitor which draft prospects they plan to work out ahead of the upcoming festivities.
