In recent days, there has been some rumored disconnect between the Milwaukee Bucks and Team Greece during this summer's EuroBasket Tournament. The rumor was that the Bucks had yet to sign off on Giannis being able to play, but Greece head coach Vassilis Spanoulis recently confirmed that the Greek Freak will begin participating in team activities this weekend.

Giannis will be in action soon for the first time since the Milwaukee Bucks were bounced out of the NBA Playoffs early for the third consecutive season.

Bucks will see Giannis on the court (for Greece) soon

Milwaukee Bucks fans and front office personnel alike always hold their breath a little bit whenever Giannis participates in this extracurricular. He's risking his body every single time he steps on that court for a team that isn't paying him hundreds of millions of dollars. Yet, Giannis' love for Greece is well-documented, so keeping him away has always been a far-fetched idea.

The most "controversial" aspect of it has always been that not only is Giannis risking his health, but he is also not resting his body ahead of the new season. Everyone knows how hard the forward plays in every single game. He's going to have some extra incentive in his head to go out and play as hard as possible to win something for his country.

He especially wants to be there with his brothers, Thanasis and Kostas, as Giannis has never been shy about how much he relishes playing with those two. On that same note, Thanasis' performance during EuroBasket will be worth monitoring from Milwaukee's POV as their rumored interest lingers. Playing well post-Achilles tear could cement him being back on next season's roster.

Greece's upcoming game-by-game schedule for 2025 EuroBasket goes as follows:

  • August 28 – Greece vs. Italy
  • August 30 – Cyprus vs. Greece
  • August 31 – Georgia vs. Greece
  • September 2 – Greece vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • September 4 – Spain vs. Greece

All Milwaukee Bucks fans, front office members, and players can ask for is for Giannis to stay healthy. With a retooled roster built to perfectly complement him, this team needs its superstar. From a glass-half-full perspective, hopefully these games can serve as a nice little warm-up for Giannis for what will be a crucial 2025-26 NBA season. Everyone in town has plenty to prove for the Milwaukee Bucks.
