With Damian Lillard injured, the Milwaukee Bucks will need whoever is on their roster next season to help pick up the slack in the scoring department. No one player will likely replicate the point guard's 25 points per contest, but it could certainly happen as a collective effort. One avenue could involve drafting an experienced scorer, such as Hunter Sallis.
The Wake Forest two guard was mocked to the Milwaukee Bucks in Yahoo! Sports' latest 2025 mock. If he is on the board when the team is on the clock with pick 47, Sallis would make some sense due to his prolific scoring ability that was on display during his four-year college career.
Analyzing Hunter Sallis' potential fit with the Milwaukee Bucks
After a quiet two-year stay at Gonzaga, Sallis transferred to Wake Forest and immediately took off. During his two seasons there, he averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. What stands out the most is his knack for scoring, as he can put the ball in the hoop from all three levels and keep defenses on their toes.
The biggest question mark in his offensive game is the 3-point shot. He shot just 33.3 percent in his four years of college. Included in that, though, was his junior year, where he shot 40.5 percent on his triples on 5.4 tries per game. If he can get that percentage up to around that point again in the NBA, he could have legitimate scoring threat potential.
While the offensive is his most desirable trait, Sallis is also a pesky defender due to his ability to leap into passing lanes and generate steals. Milwaukee Bucks fans saw how valuable this type of player is last season, as Gary Trent Jr. and Kevin Porter Jr. both helped mightily in this regard, creating more opportunities offensively. Adding another pest like Sallis could keep that trend going.
With four years of college experience under his belt, Sallis, 22, may be more prepared to help his next team out sooner than other younger, less polished prospects. In a class full of them projected to go in the second round, experienced college players should be all over Milwaukee's big board. This team needs help now, and perhaps Sallis could provide it, especially in the scoring department.
There's a lot to like about the score-first guard's fit in the 414.
